2005 AAA Vancouver Island Preview

With the success of many programs over the years in all levels of High School Basketball, the Island teams have become perennial contenders come March Madness. The Island is guaranteed 2 berths plus consideration for the wildcard berths of course.


Vancouver Island Zone

North, Mid-Island – Dover Bay

Dover Bay remains the favorite for the North Division. Provincial players Tiffany Olsen (U17) and Brittany Knievel (U16) anchor this talent laden team expecting to return and better their #12 finish at last season's Provincial Tournament. Not sure about any other teams from the North or Mid-Island but it would be a colossal upset should Dover Bay not come through on top.

South – Mt Douglas, Claremont, Spectrum

Last season, the Mt Douglas Rams made it all the way to the Final game of the Provincial Tournament, a return trip could produce a Championship this time around. They return 3 key starters and most polls have the Rams ranked in the top 3.

Claremont finished strong in last season's Provincial Tournament finishing 9th overall. They lose alot of Seniors so a return trip would be in the hands of the Wildcard selection committee.

Spectrum is a young up and coming team and could suprise many people.
